International PierRight next to the Puerta Maya Pier, but just to the north, is the International Pier. It often serves Royal Caribbean ships, including their large Oasis-class ships. Just like its sister pier, the International Pier also has a small “city” that caters to cruise passengers (but you can’t go between the two ports).

The terminal in Playa del Carmen is very centrally located and within walking to all main attractions. The truth is that while the water is beautiful, beaches around the island are not always nice. On the western side of Cozumel where the cruise ships dock, the coast is made of sharp coral rock in most places.

But at its heart, it’s a great little bar and grill with a cool balcony area to have a cold beer and watch the boats go by for a while. Punta Langosta is the OG of Cozumel cruise piers and is the typical porting spot for Norwegian Cruise Line and Disney Cruises to Cozumel, as well as several smaller cruise lines. Eventually, in 1518, with the first Spanish expedition, the Spaniards occupy the land, finally making it the most prominent island inhabited by Mexico. Just a half-mile down the beach from the San Francisco Beach Club is Playa Mia.

The dock is about 5 miles south of the main town San Miguel. Here you will find a large cruise centre with all you cruise, shopping and tourist facilities right there! Find well known retailers as Del Sol, Diamonds International and Piranha Joe’s right there at the cruise centre.

Puerta Maya is the furthest port in Cozumel, located around 3 miles (5 km) away from San Miguel, right next to the International Cruise Terminal. The island, which every Mayan woman was required to visit, served as a sacred site for the worship of Ixchel, the Mayan Moon Goddess. Expect to pay $10 for the ride into San Miguel from the pier.
The largest Mayan ruins in Cozumel are at San Gervasio, located in the central part of the island. The first time I went to Cozumel I brought my own snorkel gear and just pulled over at random places to check out the water. It’s really hard NOT to see some amazing things in the water around Cozumel. As soon as you get off the ship you will find vendors who are able to find you just about any type of vehicle to rent if you want to explore on your own.
Traditionally, stores are open from 9 to 1 (except Sunday) and 5 to 9, but those nearest the pier tend to stay open all day, particularly during high season. Only steps off your ship at Punta Langosta, you'll find yourself in San Miguel de Cozumel, where a myriad of shopping venues and restaurants are at your fingertips. The Playa ferry takes about 45 minutes to reach Cozumel, where you'll be dropped off at the ferry pier in San Miguel. This is only a four-minute drive or 11-minute walk from Punta Langosta, and a 10-minute drive from both Puerta Maya and the International Cruise Terminal. The Cozumel Island Museum ($4 per person and children under 8 enter free) is just a couple of blocks north of the square.
